Argentina to host the FIP Senior World Cup for the first time

The World Championship of padel legends arrives in Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires will host, from September 14 to 19, the fourth edition of the FIP Senior World Cup, the World Championship for senior padel categories.

The Argentine Padel Association (APA), together with the International Padel Federation (FIP), will welcome athletes from all over the world in a competition featuring players who have shaped the history of the sport.

This will be a special occasion for athletes and fans alike, as it marks the first time the tournament is held in Argentina, one of the key countries in the development of padel. It will also be the first edition ever played in South America, following previous editions in Estepona (Spain, 2018), Las Vegas (USA, 2022) and La Nucía (Spain, 2024). Argentina will defend the men’s world title on home soil, while Spain will aim to retain the women’s crown.

A tournament built on legacy

The FIP Senior World Cup represents not only competition but also legacy. It is based on a fundamental principle in padel: talent has no age. Senior players are a key pillar in the generational transition of the sport. Many of the participants have been, and continue to be, role models for younger players and current stars of the professional circuit.

Expanded format: 32 national teams

Due to the exponential growth of padel worldwide, the final phase of the tournament will expand to 32 national teams, a significant increase from 16 teams in Las Vegas and 24 in La Nucía. The FIP has also updated the senior categories, which are now divided into five age groups: 40+, 45+, 50+, 55+ and 60+. This aligns with the new FIP Beyond format, which includes players aged 18 to 39.

Official statements

Luigi Carraro, President of the FIP, stated: “We are pleased that the FIP Senior World Cup will be held for the first time in Argentina, a key country in the history and development of padel, representing its identity, culture, and passion.” He also emphasized the importance of the senior movement: “Senior players are a living legacy of our sport and a vital link between present and future talent.”

Santiago Brito, President of the APA, added:

“Bringing a World Championship to Argentina reaffirms our commitment to the development and international projection of padel. It is a milestone and a great honor to host this event.”

Argentina will welcome delegations from around the world in a competition that promotes the global growth and integration of padel.
